Meet Ernst Hermans of Team 888VIP
Hi I'm Ernst Hermans, 28 years old from the Netherlands.
I started playing poker when I was in college. At first we were playing all kinds of poker games but at one point a friend of mine got familiar with Texas Holdem. After playing with friends for a year or two we discovered online poker. This was late 2003.
My friends and I were immediately hooked. We went broke a few times the first month but after that I never looked back. Playing poker at the computer-areas in school instead of working on college stuff. With the money we firstly made we went to Vegas in April 2004, and after you’ve seen Vegas “studying”, of course, went "bye bye".
When I started playing online poker in 2003 somewhere around 90% of the games were limit games, so that’s what I played the first 3 years of my online “career”. After that I switched to no limit because that was getting more and more popular so there was more money to be made there. Till this day I play online at Pacific Poker which has been by far the best site for me to play at.
In March 2006 I played my first “big” live event in Vienna, Austria in which I came 3rd collecting a big payday and my love for live events was born.
During the years to come I made some nice cashes in live tournaments, including a 10th place finish in a 00 WSOP Side event and a deep finish in the EPT Monte Carlo. Recently I made my biggest cash in live events by far- I came in second in the APPT Grand Final in Sydney which cashed me a 5.000AUD!
