888poker VIP Wins the World Poker Tour National Series in Marbella

Gibraltar, May 1 2012 – The World Poker Tour (WPT) is a prestigious poker tournament featuring the world's finest poker aficionados and up-and-coming prodigies. One such expert is Dutch poker professional and 888poker VIP, Patrick de Koster. He showcased his poker acumen in fine style by winning the World Poker Tour Marbella (€1500 + €150) Main Event. De Koster claimed the championship title after a thrilling series of poker games. His fortuitous journey began via a WPT Marbella Qualifier tournament at 888poker

The WPT's inaugural Marbella Main Event successfully brought in the biggest-ever field to be seen in the World Poker Tour National Series. A glittering tally of some 377 players were present – a record in itself.

Patrick de Koster played himself into a strong position by successfully outmanoeuvring his opponents in the early and middle stages of the tournament. Soon, he found himself at the final table with 4 Spanish players vying for their slice of the poker pie. The WPT Marbella Main Event is a particular source of pride for the Spaniards, and they fought tooth and nail to keep the Dutchman from gaining the advantage.

In the end however, the contest was a heads-up between de Koster and the UK poker professional Peter Linton. The cards did not fall in the Brit’s favour, and the heads-up challenge soon came to a grinding halt. Peter Linton's King +10, were no match against Patrick de Koster's Ace + King. For his part, the Dutchman was overwhelmed with his €150,000 victory – the biggest live win in his career. He second largest win was the ,000 pot that he won at the World Series of Poker Main Event in 2010.
